6 Make sure you select the correct shampoo for hair type
7 Start the treatment with effleurage- Circular Movement
8 Use Friction movement to deep clean
9 wash hair twice ensuring the water runs clear
10 Detangle hair with a wide tooth comb
11 Massage scalp to invigorate and encourage blood flow
12 Towel dry
13 Provide aftercare advice to the client
Next we were asked to work In pairs to shampoo and condition each others hair, blowdry and style with heated equipment. Shampoo is used to remove natural oils, skin cells, dust and dirt. It also helps remove the build up of product. The conditioner makes it more manageable for the next service
•I worked on Kristina who has amazing long blonde hair. Washing her hair was a slightly struggle as she has so much hair. I had to keep lifting up her hair to allow the water to drain down the sink because her hair is so long it kept blocking the plug hole. I used effleurage technique to apply the shampoo to the hair it has a soothing effect. I used rotary movements this stimulates the scalp and removes grease and dirt. Next I used friction movements to deep clean.
•I shampooed the hair twice. The first is a superficial clean the second cleanse is a deep clean
•I made sure the water ran clear ensuring all the product was out of the hair before finishing the treatment. Leaving products in the hair can make it look greasy
•I section the hair into 4 equal sections
•Horizontally I sectioned the hair to blow dry each section individually starting at the centre.
•I concentrated blowdrying at the root ensuring it was dry. Always having my air blowing down closing the cuticle of the hair ensuring it is smooth. Working my way along the sections
•Using a tail comb to release another horizontal section I started again on the next layer. I repeated this process until the whole hair was dry.
•When it came to the front of the hair I worked horizontally along the front sides of the head.
•To finish I straightened the hair just at the ends to create smoothness and the wisps of hair around the face as my model requested this. It actually tidies the blow dry and completes the look making sure all hairs are smooth
This a straigh blow dry i have also completed
I was extremely happy with my finished looked. Previously as I've said before blow drying is something I struggle with. Drying Kristians hair was a long process due to the fact her hair is so long. Timing is definitely something I need to improve and work on. The look of the hair was smooth and sleek her hair has weight which helped a lot and it is not fly away. She has fine hair but a lot of it. To complete the hairstyle I went over the ends with heated hair straighteners to add a final finish to the hair. This just smoothed down any fly away hairs.
