Task 2 16-11-15 Simple liner lashes and a glitter lip

Today Holly showed us how to achieve a simple liner with lashes and a glitter lip.

Hollys Tips

•Black Duo lash glue

•Lash tweezers from MAC

•Cut the lashes to fit the shape of the models eyes

•Paint the base of the lash with Mac Black Track if the line is visible.

She started by applying full coverage foundation to the skin. This lesson wasn't focused on the skin but the aim is to keep practicing as it is a skin important to perfect. Once she had finished the skin she moved on to the lashes. Holly cut the lashes to fit the Models eye shape just by trimming the ends. After she was happy with the length of the lash she added Duo Glue to the bottom of the lashes using a good amount on the end of a brush, making sure she had applied it to the corners especially allowing to go tacky before applying the lash. Getting the model to look down she pressed the eyelash onto the lash line starting at the centre. Pressing them up and down to adjust when needed.

Step by step

Simple eyeliner and lashes

•To begin my makeup I started with the skin. I created a full coverage look using Mac in NC50 I buffed the product into the skin. Then I added a highlight and contour using Crown Brush Pallet

•I powdered the face using translucent powder- Kyrolan

•Moving on to the lashes I asked my model to look down if the models lashes are straight you may need to curl them to help them blend in the false lashes

•I applied glue to the back of my hand and using the end of a brush. I applied a good amount of glue on to the base of the lash. Never blow on the lashes to dry allow to air dry and especially apply glue to the corners. Apply lashes to the natural lash line starting at the centre. Let the glue go tacky before applying

•Lift up the eye lid and place the lash in the centre. Press into the corners pressing up and down to ensure it is close to lash line. Adjust as needed.

•I then added mascara to blend lashes together

•Next I pinched together the lashes and the false lashes

•I added eyeliner on the top lash line. creating a small flick

Evaluation

Lashes and Liner is something I lack confidence in. I struggle with symmetry of the eye liner and the general application of the lash. Today I felt the actual lash application went better than I thought. I didn't struggle much to apply the lashes to the lash line which I normally find hard. I found it difficuly to match the eyeliners up and i know this is a weakness of mine. Once completing the look i notices i could of trimmed the eyelashes more to ensure they fitted her eye shape better. I needed to trim a few lashes off the end as it overlapped her natural lash. I also noticed the edges were slightly lifting so should of applied more pressure and more duo glue to the edges before sticking down. I get scared in am going to hurt the model so can be too delicate sometimes. Eyes is my biggest struggle in makeup. It is something that worries me as it is so important

Step By Step

Glitter lip

Using Black track eyeliner for the lip colour. I filled in the lips with black colour ensuring the lip was neat and if needed correcting the outline with concealer making sure the lip line was smooth and not bleeding over the edges.

Next using a water mixing medium I mixed the Mac Black 3D glitter on top of the black lip. Using a lip brush I pressed the glitter onto the lip. I used a tissue underneath the lip to prevent any fall out going on the my models face because it can be difficult to remove. ( pre mixing the water mixing medium and the glitter first makes this look easier and is a lot less messy)

When applying makeup to the lip don't be scared to move the lip around.

Tip: Try using the same colour lipstick and glitter: ie Red Lipstick- Red Glitter, Purple Lipstick –Purple Glitter

Evaluation

This was the first time I had tried to create a glitter lip. I am fairly confident with lipstick application and neatness but I need to work on my lip corrections. I was not happy with the intensity of the colour of the lip it was no where near as black as I would like it. I feel like I should of added another layer. I was happy with the application of the glitter on the lip and did not get any on the face. This did not photograph well at all

I have practised eyelash application. I have also started to wear them more myself and apply eyeliner when ever i apply makeup. This was a tip from Holly which i have found really helpful. I need to be more confident with my application. I worry that i am going to hurt my model or get something in the eye. I think this is down to the fact i am very fussy about my own eye makeup being applied
