Task 3 Marc Jacobs SS/14

During the Marc Jacobs New York Spring/Summer 14 fashion show Skater skirts, bomber jackets and high-shine mini-dresses were a key element. The collection was all about slimline shapes the. For a spring summer look you automatically think florals and colours but Marc Jacobs had a very Victorian gothic feel. The catwalk was covered in black sand wuth cigeratte butts and old vouge magazine. The music adds tension and atmosphere to the show.

“Marc wanted the girls to look beautiful and edgy—interesting, but not too pretty,”

The makeup artist for the Marc Jacobs SS/14 collection was François Nars’s For this look he created two bold looks. The statement was all about the eyes. François Nars is thefounder and creative director Nars wanted to create a makeup to compliment the victorian style clothes

“Most of the girls have a teal blue eyeliner, but some have a royal blue, this extending past both the inner and outer corner of the eye it almost frames then with a pop of bright colour making them a statement and stand out. They also used a generous application of mascara. The skin is very clear with a minimal makeup look for a flushed appearance. There is no blush and no lips. This makes the girls edgy and interesting and not your typical definition of pretty

For added glamor The nails were painted in the new colour from Marc Jacobs Beauty in a shade called “Bark” with added black just at the tips, this followed the theme of some of the highly decorative clothing.

All the models can be seen wearing identical boyish blunt blonde “bleached out “ The hair blonde with dark roots, which appear grown out. The hairpieces had been dyed in advance by colorist Victoria Hunter at the Whittemore House Salon before the show. The hair stylist fitting them onto each girl, then cutting them with an irregular bowl type cut with the “scissors, and razors.

The look is interesting because it is different and edgy. The hair and makeup give an interesting modern twist to the clothing style yet compliment it well. Marc Jacobs likes free spirted women who know there own mind and aren't affriad to mix things up and try something different. This can be seen in both his clothing styles for the show as well as the hair and makeup.
