Tanya Taylor SS15 Hair Practise

Today during my Hair lesson I wanted to Practice my Tanya Taylor SS15 hair look for my assessment next week. For this lesson I washed my head in preparation for next week.

I shampooed and conditioned my block and then blew dry the hair straight. This was also a good opportunity for me to keep practicing blow drying and the brush control and making sure the hair is smooth. I feel I am getting a lot more confident with a straight blow dry and I have definitely improved on the speed in which I complete the look. To make sure my hair was completely smooth I ran over the ends with some hair straighteners

I parted the hair with a strong bold centre parting like in the Collection. I then tried to plait the hair in loose braids. I attempted this a few times securing with clear bands but it just wasn't the correct look. I decided to find a youtube video to help me

This showed me exactly how the design was created and was extremely helpful

Once i had washed and conditioned the hair. I sectioned into 4

I started blowdrying Horizontally section by section. Making sure my air flow was down to close the cuticle and the heat was directed away from the scalp to prevent buring the scalp and hair

Once the whole head was dry i created a sharpe centre parting. This is a big part of the look

This was one of my final loose plaits from behind. I need to work on the looseness and neatness

Hairspray

Shine spray

After watching the video i decided the best way to create the plaits would be like they demonstrated

I plaited the hair from about half way down over the front of the shoulders and once completed I placed back over the shoulder allowing the plait to hang down the back loosely. I came across a few problems with the design. My model Rosa has extremely short hair which is why I need to recreated this look on my block head. Also because I am using the block it has very small ears which means the plaits do not sit behind the ear like it does on the Models for Tanya Taylor's collection. I spoke to Kanika and she suggested the best way to create this would be lots of hairspray and possibly hiding the grip in the hair to clip it back away from the ears

I created both of the plaits the left side has been loosened and the right side is still tight. To secure the ends i backcombed the end of the plaits and sprayed with hairspray to make sure it stayed in place

Overall i was happy with my blowdry and straighten. I need to work on the plait creation taking into consideration i am using a block instead of a model which has made my task of placing the plaits correctly slightly more difficult
