Term 2 Colour Theory
Makeup is a type of art knowing the colour wheel is important for a good application. I can be the difference of a good makeup and an amazing makeup. knowing the colour wheel will change how you apply makeup. This is done by understanding the basic pigments

This involves understanding the under tones : cool and warm.
Red and orange are a resemblance of heat so they are warm
Green and blue remind us of the sea they are cool
Colours such as yellow and purple fall in the cusp
Understanding the colour wheel is vital you need to understand which colours compliment each other. Colours can be mixed in various way

Hue: is how the eye perceives colour. it is colour in it purest form. these are known as primary colours blue red and yellow. When you mix primary together you create secondary colours. These are basic colours.
You can tint a colour by adding white
You can shade a colour by adding black
You can add tone by adding grey
Complementary colours and contrasting colours
These colours are opposite each other on the colour wheel. The placed next to each other to create a makeup or piece of art they create a strong colour contrast and make the colour pop against each other.
Analogous colours
These are colours which are next to each other on the colour wheel and they blend well togethet
in makeup designs you can use the following colour schemes
Looks
Monochrome Makeup Looks
This uses only one shade of colour (hue) and various tones shades and tints of that colour. This is the easiest way to match make up colours
Ananalogous makeup looks
This is a look is naturally one of the most common as the colours are easy to blend this is because the colours are next to each other on the colour wheel and are similar
Complementary colours
These are opposite each other on the colour wheel. When put together it creates a striking dramatic look. It adds vibrancy to the makeup and makes the colours pop.
