Term 2 Week 3 26th January Plaits: Mohawk braid
I enjoyed todays lesson we were given a challenge to recreate two hairsyles.
We started the lesson by smoothing down the hair to make this look sleek. I decided to do this by straightening the hair with hair straighteners this creates a smooth finish which makes the end result look better
Kanika showed us a catwalk style hairstyle. It was a two plaits entwined into each other. One on the top half of the head and the other in the bottom half
I started the style by creating a half up half down style making sure it was sleek. Using a strand of hair I wrapped it around the ponytail. This hides the band and looks more professional and complete
I tied the bottom half into a ponytail
Next I plaited the ponytail I had created securing with a clear band
Then I plaited the bottom ponytail
Parting a section of the bottom plait about half way down I slotted the top plait through
To make neater I plaited the bottom of the top plait into the underneath plait and secured the end with a clear band.
The next style was a mohawke braid
We watched this video on youtube on how to create the look
From this we had to try the style on our block head
At first i struggled. I am not very good with hand eye co-ordination when it comes to copying something. It is something i struggle with
It is a plait that is time consuming but very effective once. I copied all the steps in the above video to recreate my style
For my first attempt of this style i was fairly pleased. It is starting to take shape but by no means perfect. I need a lot of improvement. Firstly it looks slightly unprofessional because you can see the bands which makes it look unfinished. Also it is very loose and lop sided. These are areas i need to make improvements on. I love the idea of this plait and the professional finished versionis very effective. I need much improvement
