Term 2 Week 4 2nd February Sleek ponytails and messy buns for Catwalk

Today our brief for the lesson was sleek ponytails and messy buns. This is something i am slightly more confident in as it is something i have tempted in my own hair although the sleek ponytail is tricky as my hair is so curly

Kanika showed us a video on Youtube to create a messy bun

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySB5mOKnTD4

This was the exact video we watched during this lesson

I followed it step by step to create my own version of the messy bun.

Before i had watched the video Kanika asked us to straighten our block heads so unfortunatly it was slightly too slick to start off with so it took me a couple of attempt to create the style

I used

Bungy hair band

Bobby pins

Hairspray

Hair pins

Brush

Tail comb

Rake comb

First i started with straight hair which i feel i didn't actually need to do. This style works better with more texture not sleek hair.

Next i sectioned the hair and secured in a messy bun with a bungy

Next i twisted and wraped the sections of hair in a chriscross method

This is the final side image of my messy bun. I was quite happy but feel i need to loose the top twist to make it feel more romantic and effortless The curls at the front complete the look and mae it glamourous. This is a look i would like to recreate again and could wear myself.

After the messy bun i tried a sleek ponytail. In hingsight i should of done this first because i have had to restraighten the hair. This is a straighforward look but a timeless classic and a good style to perfect. I used a bungy for this look and one hair pin. I used a comb to create the tight sleek look

I was happy with my Sleek ponytail. I feel i could of made it sleeker with products to smooth down the hair. The left side has slightly looser than the right. In the image you can see a slight bludge.

I think both the sleek pony tail and messy bun are an elegant and timeless style and can add class and glamour to a look

The area i need to improve on is the sleekness of the head
