Term 2 Week 5 9th February Victory rolls 1940's hairstyles

Today we worked in pairs. I worked with Jo the aim of the lesson was too curl the hair with heated rolled to give it some texture and volume. Once we had done this we were given a booklet to look at a recreate a 1940's hairstyle with rolls

Using heated rollers i curled my models hair

Kanika drew a simple diagram to show us how to section the hair

I used the Red Rollers in the biggest section , blue in the middle and lower and smaller white ones at the sides

I applied from root to point and waiting until they were cool before removing

Once they were cool i removed all the rollers

I brushed out the curls for volume

Next i sectioned the hair into 3 parts . 2 at the front either side and a large section at the back of the head.

I created 2 rolls at the front and secured with a pin

For the back roll i needed to add bulk to the hair so i used hair padding secured in a hair net. I pinned this to the head in a sausage shape using about 4 pins

To finsihed i brushed the hair up around the sausage and gripped into place

I enjoyed creating this hairstyle . I think it is an elegant and classic look. I found the thecnique of adding the hair padding very helpful and finsihed the look by adding fullness to the roll. I found it worked well in Jos hair as it hadn't been washed for a few days and helped the texture stay in place. I prefered my front rolls to the back roll it didn' work as well. I think the hair padding i added was too large. I will learnt next time to do a smalled amount
