Term 2 Week 6 22nd February Gold leaf eye makeup
Today Holly showed us how to use gold leaf she showed us 2 exmaples of images used
She showed us a look used in
Sam Byrant AW16 makeup by holly Futon
Fendi SS12 Makeup Pat Mcgrath
Holly showed us a demonstration and used the Fendi SS12 photo as reference as this was a more artist version.
To begin holly prepped the skin cleansing, toning and moisturising as in every makeup skin prep is a vital part for great looking makeup
For the foundation today Holly used Mac Studio fix this is a heavy foundation and needs lots of buffing out
She used the Mineralize Concealer on areas which needed it
The above Pat Mcgrath look has a very suttel contour so Holly contoured with a small 224 Brush using a darker shade of foundation
Powdering the T-zone with translucent powder
Next Holly used Water based mixing medium soultion and sprayed it on the eye area and brow bone
Cut the gold leaf into the required shape. Making sure you do not touch the gold leaf with your fingers keep the gold leaf in the paper
Apply to the skin using a brush remove the back layer of paper. Rub the brush over the tissue. Remove any excess Gold leaf.
Gold leaf doesn't stick to the brow easily so holly used a small amount of vaseline. Again pat the Gold leaf down with a brush to prevent it sticking to your finger
To achieve the cracked effect use a dry stiff brush and gently rub over the area
Finish the look by adding eyeliner in a rounded and thick effect
Lastly Holly added clear lip gloss
Next it was my turn
Today i had a coldsore and felt very self consious so i decided to work on myself as my face was very sore.I avoided the mouth area and concentrated on the eyes and skin
I used Derma colour D4 and D5 under my eye area to colour correct
Uisng a combination on Mac face and body in C1 and C3 i buffed the product into my skin. I avoided the lip area near the cold sore
I concealer using Mac Full coverage in NW15 to highlight under my eye area
My skin was warm so i applied a small amount of concealer to my lid. I used a cut amount of gold leaf and applied to my eye lid. Doing this on myself was quite hard especially as i forgot to put in my contact lennses.
I pat down the gold leaf with a brush. I had a few issues and the gold leaf stuck to my skin as it fell out of the tissue paper
As the gold leaf was broken up i didn't need to buff over my lid much on my left eye however i did slightly more on the right eye.
I added think black rounded eyeliner to finish the eye makeup
I didn't apply any lip product as my lips are contagious and i dont want to spread my cold sore
Evalation
Today i wasn't happy with my look but i think that is mainly because i felt like a tramp. I have never had a cold sore before and it is not nice. I have worked with gold leaf before i love the effect it gives to a makeup. I have never applied it as eyemake up and i think it is a very eye catching look.
For my first time it looked ok. I didn't have enough gold leaf to copy the look so i randomly placed it on each eye and couldnt cover the brow area.
I had difficulty with the left side as it stuck to my finger so this side has more of a cracked effect to it. The right side applied to the skin better. I didn't need to buff the cold much to crack it. I was fairly happy with the liner as this is an area of weakness for me
