Health and safety legislations are in place to protect health safety and welfare ar work. Healthy and safety is essential and should always be followed. Risk assements should always be carried out
WHAT IS A RISK ASSESSMENT?
A risk assessment is a methodical way of looking at work activities, equipment and workplaces that present a potential risk to employees or others who may be affected their activities. Appropriate procedures should be put in place to prevent or minimise loss, damage or injury in the workplace.
Always have a clean and tidy work area and brush. Do not cross contaminate
Maintain a high standard of hygiene in the work place
Worktops should be disinfected
Dispose of material correctly and according to local Bylaws
Store products correctly i.e. in a lockable flammable cupboard
Any spillages must be wiped up immediately and disposed of appropriately
Protect yourself and clients by having full insurance cover
Make-up and tools must be used hygienically and should not be shared
Special effects makeup involves chemicals. Safety guidelines need to be followed to prevent accidents
Where possible have safety data sheets for products
Make sure that the area you work in is well ventilated, properly lit and have tables and chairs of correct height.
Never mix chemicals unless the manufacture recommends this
Allergies are constantly increasing. Avoid materials known to cause allergies. Always carry out a patch test 48 hours before and apply barrier cream to the area
Protect yourself and models with gowns (PPE)
Remove the products correctly i.e. Mme spirtgum remover eye makeup remover
Ensure you have a first aid kit. Including eye wash. Protect eyes when using acetone
Follow COSHH regulations
No trailing leads to electrical equipment; Appliances must not be covered when in use;
Always work on time
